LOOK OUTSIDE, RAIN IS POURING DOWN, BUT WE MIGHT AS WELL STAY AND REBEL, - - - - - - - - - - - - - - taylor was being chased, chased by a very large, creepy looking spider-like creature. then suddenly, her legs locked up. she was frozen, and couldn't move, all she could do was blink and breathe. very slow, shaky breaths. as the creature got closer, and closer, until it began to drool all over her, she closed her eyes shut tight. she opened them once more, and then saw the monster coming towards her. she opened her eyes for real then, and sat up. she woke up to her cell phone buzzing, with her alarm going off, along with a fearful scream coming from her mouth. she sat up in bed, and exhaled slowly and shakily. she pulled the covers off of her, and crossed her legs. tay stretched her arms and then slouched over and sat there for a minute, letting her eyes adjust to the sunlight of the room.
tay slipped on some clothes. it was pretty hot outside, so she decided a loose iron maiden tank top and some short jean shorts would be nice for the day. she slipped them on quickly and tied her hair back into a ponytail. she slipped on her flip flops and grabbed a quick twenty and left her apartment, uncleaned and her unshowered. she didn't care though, as she had showered last night. she exhaled quickly, and took out a pocket mirror, quickly checking her appearance to make sure she looked alright. once taylor was sure that she looked fine, she ran to the elevator and left down to the bottom floor.
taylor left the building quickly, she didn't really like being on the bottom floor, it gave her the creeps, especially how the one light flickered like crazy. she got out into the humid day time, and the sun beat down on her neck. tay put her sunglasses on her nose and walked out to her car, shoving the key into the lock and twisting it to the right, unlocking it. she opened up the door and pulled out the key. tay hopped into her little blue toyota camry, and stuck the key into the ignition, waiting for it to start up. she plugged her ipod into her radio and turned up the speaker, blasting the song 'don't you' by i fight dragons. she had a shit ton of job applications laid out on her lap, and she pursed her lips and looked at them. she sighed and pulled out of the parking lot, driving off to misty's cafe to sit down in a nice little place to fill out her apps and have a coffee.
she got to misty's, and ordered her coffee quickly. tay sat down at a table and set her coffee down on the other side of the two seater table, along with her job apps. there were about six spread out on the table in front of her, and she took out her pen and began filling in the shit, like name, age, location, experience and whatnot. she had a lot of work to do, so she decided to do this quickly. she sipped her coffee and kept her focus on the apps, secretly hoping someone would show up and relieve her from this app-writing. she tapped her pen on the table and stared at the applications.

Josie grunted, as she felt the light of the morning sun burst through her windows. As much as she would’ve loved to sleep in on the weekends, her mother never found it necessary to invest in a good set of blinds. Surprising, considering Mrs. Lydon’s degree in interior design. The small redhead grumpily sat up in her bed, tossing aside a particularly warm blanket and shaking out her head. A shower was necessary, she decided. Josie stood up, making a face as she walked over to her dresser, pulling out the essentials first: underwear, bra, socks, and then moved onto the next drawer, grabbing a pair of skinny jeans from her pile of pants, and digging through her shirts until she found a yellow and orange striped t-shirt. Still grumpy, Josie walked to the bathroom, giving the door one knock before walking in, not even waiting for a response. Her younger sister didn’t face the same window problems as Josie did.
Josie was showered, dressed, slightly made-up with just some tinted moisterizer and very pale brown eyeshadow, and on her way down the stairs to the kitchen. She grunted, realizing that she had forgotten shoes and the small backpack that she used as a purse in her room. She ran quickly up the stairs back to her room, slipped on a pair of checkered vans, slung her bag over her shoulders, and bounced back down the stairs.
Normally, Josie wouldn't waste money actually buying food, when she could get it for free in her cabinets at home, but unfortunately, her parents had put grocery shopping off for a few days this week, and unless she wanted to eat peanut butter with a spoon for lunch, she was out of luck. Sighing, Josie walked out of her bedroom, and down the stairs of her house, stopping in her garage to grab her skateboard. She didn't claim to be an excellent skateboarder by any means, or pretend that she could do all kinds of crazy tricks or anything, but it was a faster means of getting around than walking if you didn't have a car. The redhead grabbed a gray, floppy beanie from the coat-rack in her living room, pulling it over her hair, and adjusting her bangs quickly in the mirror before heading out the back door that lead to her driveway, and onto the road.
The ride to Misty’s Café wasn’t too bad. Ten or fifteen minutes, depending on how fast you rode, and how many street laws you ignored, and how many drivers yelled at you for not watching where you were going. Josie heard the familiar bell over her head as she walked through the door, skateboard in hand. The redhead ordered her usual for warm days: a vanilla frappe, and waited patiently at the counter as they made her drink. Glancing around, Josie’s eyes fell on a girl with shockingly pink hair. She looked like an interesting person, to say the least, and Josie was sure that she must have seen her around town before. She didn’t look like a student, though. Josie thanked the bartender with a smile as she was handed her drink, and took another look around, seeing what tables were open.
Josie noticed the papers spread out in front of the pink-haired girl, and glanced at the window in the front of the store. Having a job wouldn’t be a bad idea, come to think of it. Her parents had been bothering her about it, after all. The redhead scrunched her face up slightly, before walking over to the table where the girl with pink hair sat. ”Are they hiring here, do you know?” she asked, tilting her head.

LOOK OUTSIDE, RAIN IS POURING DOWN, BUT WE MIGHT AS WELL STAY AND REBEL, - - - - - - - - - - - - - - the pen in taylor's hand was scribbling away at the paper, and she was slightly zoned out, all of her attention on the papers. she had last name, first name, middle initial, mailing address, town/city, postal code, current residence, home number, e-mail, date of birth, gender, and just about everything after that on all of her apps. only an hour had passed, and she was doing pretty well, seeing as she was so close to being done. she smiled, and took a sip of her coffee, which was the second one she had gotten today now. tay threw the pen down and stretched her arms and back out, throwing her head back and squeezing her eyes together and then coming back down. when her eyes opened again, she spotted a short, skinny little thing. she was a red head in very bright, unique clothes. she was unlike most people that taylor had seen around here, and she smiled. she looked pretty unique.
the girl glanced at taylor, and taylor waved. she decided not to act like a bitch today, because she just wasn't in the mood for a cat fight when she had all these applications to fill, plus she needed some friends around here. all of her high school friends had moved elsewhere for college. tay yawned, and rubbed the corners of her eyes, trying not to fuck up her eyeliner but still trying to get any sleepers she had out. she tapped her pen against the table and exhaled through her lips slowly. with her other hand, taylor tapped her long, recently done nails on the table, and grabbed her coffee for another quick sip. she cleared some space on the table and eyeballed the empty chair across from her for a moment.
taylor was busy again, finishing up her applications. she didn't even hear anyone when she heard a voice next to her. are they hiring here, do you know? tay gasped, as she was surprised. how had she gotten over here so fast? she laughed nervously, hoping this girl didn't notice her jump. "um, i think they are." she went through her applications pile and saw that she did have one from misty's cafe. "yep, they are. i'm applying here. i need a job so fucking bad." tay laughed again, hoping quickly that this new friend of hers didn't mind cursing. she wanted to make a pretty good impression at the least. "um, i'm taylor. taylor cooper. you seem badass, what's your name?"
taylor had hoped that the girl wouldn't just say thanks and walk away then. maybe she would sit down by taylor, have her coffee and keep taylor entertained and occupied. tay kept her focus on the girl. she was very pretty, and she'd probably be able to get a man whenever the hell she wanted. taylor could even maybe help her out. she crossed her fingers under the table, still hoping she would stay. since elise was back out in new york city, she might need a little sister figure. she smiled gently and took her hands out from underneath the table, sipping her coffee.

The pink-haired girl may have waved at Josie, but she couldn't be sure. She saw something move out of the corner of her eye, but by the time she had noticed it, she had already looked away. The redhead cracked a nervous smile when the pink-haired girl jumped. Perhaps Josie should've given her more of a warning before coming over. The girl had seemed pretty focused on filling out the papers on the table in front of her. The girl laughed a bit and explained how she really needed a job, and introduced herself as Taylor Cooper. You seem badass. What's your name? Josie laughed a little bit at this comment. Josie wouldn't really describe herself as being a badass, though it seemed like a compliment from this girl.
"I'm Josie," she introduced herself, with a small shrug and a smile. Taylor had seemed friendly, at least more friendly than most people would be if you just walked up and asked them a random question. Hopefully she had forgiven Josie for startling her earlier. Taylor must've been a bit older than high school. Josie was sure she would've noticed that bright pink head of hers walking around if she had gone to Lawrence like she did. The redhead glanced down at the large pile of applications in front of Taylor. She must have needed a job pretty badly, like she said, if she was doing this much paperwork at one time. Though jobs were hard to come by nowadays, from what she heard. Honestly, Josie didn't even realize that there were as many stores in Preston Heights as this girl had applications for.
The small redhead took a sip of her frappe, and like always, wasn't disappointed. Sure, it was a bit expensive, and not exactly food like she had intended, but it was delicious, and maybe when she got back home her fridge would be magically filled with real food. "Do you go to PHA?" Josie asked, tilting her head at Taylor again. She figured Taylor either went to the other school around here, or she had graduated already. Might as well ask. Hey, she might be able to start a nice conversation with the pink-haired lady. Maybe she could make a new friend today. That would be more productive than just sitting at home doing nothing.
Josie glanced at the counter at the front of the store, noticing a pile of applications similar to the one that Taylor was busy filling out. Might as well. she thought, while she was here anyway. Josie grabbed one, and a pen out of the cup of pens sitting next to the pile of papers. The lady at the counter gave Josie kind of a weird look as she took an application, but smiled when Josie made eye contact with her. Josie didn't blame her, seeing as she looked on the younger side, and she wasn't exactly professional looking at this point. Josie glanced back at Taylor, taking another sip of her drink. She wondered if the other girl would mind her joining. Taylor seemed friendly enough so far, though she hadn't really said much. Definitely one of the more interesting people in Preston Heights, like she had thought before. Not many people walked around with colourful hair like that, though Josie was more drawn to interesting looking people rather than normal-looking ones.

LOOK OUTSIDE, RAIN IS POURING DOWN, BUT WE MIGHT AS WELL STAY AND REBEL, - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
taylor smiled when the girl laughed. she had a cute laugh, and she loved making people smile. tay tucked some of her hair that had fallen out of her ponytail behind her left ear, and put both of her elbows down on the table, putting her hands on either side of her face to hold her head up, looking at the girl. i'm josie. taylor smiled. "i love your name, josie! that's such a cute name," tay said, laughing slightly. she put her hands down on the table and then smiled at josie again. she made eye contact so that josie knew she was willing to be friendly. her bright red hair really caught taylor's eye. "i love your hair, also. you don't see many adorable teens with awesome hair like that." she laughed. taylor was trying to be sisterly, but she thought to herself that she did sound slightly lesbian. she shook the thought from her mind and looked at the pen she was holding, and began clicking it.
josie sipped from her frappe, and had a pleased look on her face. that made taylor thirsty, and she took a sip of her cappuccino. it was very good, they never let her down. taylor only came in on mondays and wednesdays, because the girl that made her cappuccinos perfectly worked on those specific days. if anyone else made tay's cappuccinos, they were either too watery, too sugary, or were incorrectly made. she couldn't stand when that happened. tay shuddered at the thought of it and then smiled, her mouth half open, and holding her drink. suddenly she felt really young, when josie had asked, do you go to pha?. pha was a beautiful boarding school for teens. she chuckled slightly, and traced her fingers around the lid of her cappuccino. she then thought, damn, it had only been about two years since she had gone to pha. "nah, i don't. i went there about two years ago, though. i'm nineteen, i graduated. i just kinda...live here." tay shrugged her shoulders.
taylor watched as josie headed off to grab an application. she got back to writing, and just as she had finished up the apps, she glanced up and caught josie glancing over here. tay gestured her hand to the seat in front of her and moved some papers. "come on over here, sit down," taylor called to her with a smile on her face. she hoped she was making a good impression. she had been in a wonderful mood lately, so this was probably triggering her nice-ness. usually she'd see a girl like her and think, what the hell is on her head? but this girl was adorable and she seemed sweet, and her hair was quite badass. tay played with her bouncy ponytail a bit, twirling strands of hair around her fingers, waiting to see if josie would come over here or if she'd run for dear life.

Josie smiled again. She wasn't used to compliments, especially from people she had just met, but it made her smile. Her name wasn't something that she was normally complimented on either, but it made Taylor seem that much friendlier. "Thanks," she said, laughing a bit again. i love your hair, also. you don't see many adorable teens with awesome hair like that. Josie smiled more widely. Most people either made fun of her hair, or really liked it. One of the two. So, Josie was glad that Taylor had decided to like it instead of tease her about her flaming head. She had inherited her Grandfather's bright red locks, who was directly from Ireland and spoke with quite the accent. Josie could only wish that the accent came with the hair colour.
"Thanks," Josie said again, smiling at Taylor. "I really like yours too. It's great," she said, admiring Taylor's brightly coloured hair. The pink was quite impressive, and Josie had to wonder how often it had to be dyed to stay so vibrant. It was cool how long it was as well, seeing as most people who dyed their hair so bright kept it short, but it was cool seeing something different. Taylor must have to condition the hell out of it to be able to keep it so long, Josie thought to herself. She knew what dying could do to your hair, having dyed hers previously, but she'd never bleached it, and she was pretty sure you'd have to bleach first to get your hair so pink.
Josie nodded. She had thought that Taylor looked a bit older than the majority of girls. She also wondered if PHA had a policy against the dress code against unnaturally coloured hair. She thought Lawrence did, but she couldn't be sure. Come on over here and sit down. Josie heard Taylor invite her to join her as she came back from getting an application from the desk. Josie smiled, grateful that she was being invited rather than having to invite herself to sit with the older girl. "Thanks," she said again, pulling out the chair so she could sit down, and leaning her skateboard against it. She again admired the giant stack of applications and papers in front of Taylor, and wondered if a lot of places she was applying for would have a problem with her hair colour. Josie hoped not, because she thought the pink hair was pretty rad, personally, and wouldn't have a problem with it if she was an employer, so long as the person worked hard.
Josie took another sip of her frappe, not regretting spending $4 on it at all. Sure it was expensive, but she didn't spend much money in general, so she thought she could treat herself. Josie pulled the beanie off her head, scratching at her hair slightly to get rid of any hat-hair that might be forming. It was surprisingly warm out to be wearing a knit hat, now that she actually thought about it. Josie looked at the application that she had grabbed, and realized that she didn't even know her socials security number at this point. The other fields looked simple enough, but she'd have to do it at home and stop by the cafe some other time. "Did you like PHA?" Josie asked. She had always wondered how different it was in comparison to Lawrence. She always thought it would've been cool to live at the school rather than going home every day. It would be almost like a college experience, living in a dorm by yourself.

LOOK OUTSIDE, RAIN IS POURING DOWN, BUT WE MIGHT AS WELL STAY AND REBEL, - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
josie's smile made taylor smile, too. she loved this kid already. she was a sweetheart, and clearly loved getting compliments. she noticed her cheeks were bright red, too. taylor laughed a bit. "you're welcome, hon." i really like yours too, it's great. there was a shine in tay's eye. "why thank you!" she said, smiling. she sat and admired josie's hair for a while. she opened her mouth quickly. "did you dye it that color, or is it natural? it's probably a dumb question to ask but you never know." it was really too bright to be natural, so taylor gave herself a mental face / palm.
josie came back from the counter with her application. she had smiled graciously at taylor's invitation for her to sit across from her, which made taylor smile back. thanks. taylor laughed. "it's not a problem. i'm lonely anyways, i need some company. damn, this cappuccino is good," she said, taking another drink of her cappuccino. she loved these apple pie a la mode capps. she only got them twice a week but it was definitely worth the wait. she set her cappuccino back down on the table and looked at her nails, clicking them together.
taylor watched as more hair emerged from under josie's hat. it was really incredible, taylor kind of wished she looked like josie so she could pull that hair off. she admired it for a while and then thought, firecrotch. it was an inside joke between her and cal, whenever they saw a redhead they thought of that. she smiled, thinking of the good times they had. did you like pha? taylor laughed, remembering all the pranks she pulled on teachers and how much fun she had there. "hell yes. i pulled so many pranks on the teachers. i was such a badass back then." she laughed, once again remembering it wasn't that damn long ago. she smiled at josie, and then asked, "how are you liking pha?" she folded her hands together over her pile of applications and kept clicking her nails.

Josie smiled a bit when Taylor asked if her hair colour was natural or not. "Nah. I'm red naturally, but not this orange," she said, with a small shrug of her shoulders. Her roots were starting to come in, which were more of a strawberry blonde, so she hoped that once they started to become more noticeable, the dye would have faded back to her normal colour by that point. Josie made herself comfortable in her chair, glad that Taylor had offered once more. Otherwise, Josie would've probably stood there awkwardly, until Taylor asked what her deal was, or until she pretended that her parents were texting her to come home and help with chores or some shit, any excuse she could think of to make things less awkward.
It's not a problem. I'm lonely anyways, I need some company. Damn, this cappuccino is good. Josie smiled a bit, hoping that Taylor didn't mean that she was lonely all the time. Josie knew that feeling on occasion, when Lila was busy with schoolwork and Greg was off with his girlfriend, and Josie was stuck at home by herself, with nothing to do but stare at her computer screen or doodle some stupid little drawings in her sketchpad, constantly glancing at her phone to see if anyone had texted her, wanting to hang out. "I could use the company as well," she said, with a smile. It was definitely a nice change of pace to be out meeting new people. Josie loved her friends to death, but it was always nice to make a new friend.
Josie laughed a bit when Taylor talked briefly about her high school days. The kids at PHA always seemed more "badass", as Taylor had worded it. Lawrence was always a bit more pretentious, Josie thought, and she didn't like it too much. The kids at PHA always seemed to have more fun, though Josie was never much of a partier herself. "Oh, I go to Lawrence," she said, shrugging as she took a sip of her drink. "It's okay, I guess, but PHA kids always seemed to have more fun than us," she said, making a face. A lot of the kids at Lawrence Collegiate were kind of stuck up, and Josie never quite felt like she belonged there, at least until she had made some good friends. "It'd be cool to actually live by myself," she added, glancing up at Taylor.

LOOK OUTSIDE, RAIN IS POURING DOWN, BUT WE MIGHT AS WELL STAY AND REBEL, - - - - - - - - - - - - - - this josie girl really interested taylor. "well that's cool. either way, that hair really fits you and i like it." taylor adjusted her position in her chair, and sat with her legs folded beneath her. she took out her phone, replying to a couple texts that she had received a few hours ago from her friends and family back at home. tay really didn't feel like replying but her mom was worrying because taylor hadn't replied to her text messages for days, so she decided to reply now.
flipping her phone shut, taylor also flipped some of her hair behind her shoulders. i could use the company as well. taylor laughed. "well, that's good. now we both have someone to hang out with and something to do, right, right?" she smiled. josie kind of reminded her of callie, which made taylor feel more at home. she felt fine around josie, like she was kind of like a little sister figure to her, maybe? taylor didn't really know.
"oh, lawrence? i wanted to go to that school. my parents wouldn't let me for some shitty reason. but pha is pretty sweet. i liked it there, all the kids were pretty cool to chill with and whatnot, aha." taylor felt that she talked too much. "yeah, we did have a lot of fun. teachers at pha really don't give a shit about anything." after the comment that josie made, taylor laughed. "hell if it is! it's really boring actually, but then again peaceful. but, you have no one to hang out with and talk to when you want unless you grab your phone. i don't know. i'd much rather live in a house full of people than being alone like i am right now." tay hoped she didn't talk too terribly much.
